LW Design was commissioned to craft a distinctive bar that cleverly disguises itself as a regular establishment, a hallmark of a true speakeasy bar. The goal was to design a space unlike any other, evoking the atmosphere of a covert drinking den during the Prohibition era.
This space pays tribute to the 'Queen of Speakeasies' by creating an opulent and extravagantly styled bar where guests feel at ease in luxurious surroundings, surrounded by an atmosphere of secret intrigue, playfulness, and mischief.
The space showcases a perfect mix of Art Deco-inspired details with a vintage feel, highlighted by the meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship in the woodwork and furniture. Hand-painted golden skies over Venetian mirrors add an extra layer of mystery. Antique ceiling mirrors reflect golden skies painted in gold, enhancing the sense of secrecy. Deep blue walls feature wallpaper in a chinoiserie style, creating a multi-layered and interesting look throughout the bar.
The remarkable space was previously the executive club lounge for Jumeriah Al Naseem. The client, Blind Tiger, required the design and interior decor to be completed within a tight deadline. The design required high-end detailing typical of the Prohibition era. The finished bar is elegant and glamorous.
The elusive entrance, lavish and decadent decor, and the secretive ambiance from the inside to the outside make Blind Tiger, Dubai, the premier spot for the evening. No matter how discreet a speakeasy’s facade, Blind Tiger is no exception. Hidden and tucked away, the bar and lounge offer surprising views over Turtle Lagoon and the turtle rehabilitation project.
Given that Blind Tiger was an existing executive club lounge with a limited budget, LW Design made the most of the existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to reduce costs and time.
The bar features plush velvet seats and detailed bronze-accented wall panels, balanced by rich timber parquet floors and pink Riverstone marble.
LW Design incorporated Porta Romana lighting, artwork from Fourdots, custom-made furniture, Dedar fabrics, and House of Hackney cushions throughout Blind Tiger.
